Let’s Talk About YOUR Success Story! + Goal-Setting Made Easy

People often talk about the word success, but what actually defines success?  So many use words like money, happiness, family, etc…, but why?  Why is it that people relate success to power and money?  Happiness?  Here’s my perspective…

Success for me is simple- doing what I love, driving towards my purpose, embracing each moment and finding joy along the way.  I define success as so much more than money and power, because in life I have encountered so many people who possess both of these things, but live a life without joy and without purpose. I often try to picture my life, a personal vision board of sorts, in 5, 10, 20 years or when I’m nearing the end of my life. I am intentional and have a purpose in this process.

Let’s just take a breath there though… you’re probably thinking “Woah! That’s a tad overwhelming” and yes, I agree- but hear me out.

First, take a moment to answer the questions below.

  1. What do I want to be known for?
  2. What is my legacy?
  3. When my time is up, what difference will I have made in the world?
  4. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
  5. What are your long-term goals?

Starting with long term goals helps guide my path for the next few years, which can then be dialed back to the next year, then to the quarter, monthly, weekly, daily… you get the picture.

Diving into such a massive, long-term goal can often leave you feeling completely defeated and overwhelmed, but if you step back and create a more “Fun-sized”, granular approach to your long-term goal, you’ll find that each milestone provides a sense of accomplishment, which propels you forward.

Those feelings of accomplishment are MY definition of success.  To love what I’m doing and always enjoy and celebrate the small wins along the way.

Life is a process, so don’t rush to get to an end goal that, quite honestly, may change course or develop several times along the way. I am telling you… embrace the small wins.  It’s these successes that keep me going and light a fire within me, encouraging me to continue to make a difference, by building a brand of like minded women, ready to take on the world, while celebrating themselves and their successes on the regular!

If you’ve read this far, I challenge each of you to do some reflecting.  Dig deep and consider what success means to you.  Remember, if you’re always chasing money and power you may never truly feel successful.

I’d love it if you shared and commented below on some of your meanings of success.  This is truly one of my fave exercises!
